Topic: How are you guys storing your gear?

I have separate dedicated bags for each one of my separate rigs.  It's WAY easier to manage this way than having to build a rig every time I go out and hope that I haven't forgotten anything...e.g. usually SD cards or interconnects.  To avoid SD card disaster which I'm ashamed to say has happened way too many times, I download the SD card contents immediately after the gig into my computer and IMMEDIATELY, like first thing I do every time nowadays, return the card to the recorder slot.

Yeah, that's right...except I don't share cards and interconnects between bags if possible.  I've done that by design, but admittedly it wasn't hard for me to do because I've been doing this for 30 years now and have duplicates upon duplicates of all of the various interconnects and whatnot. 

The only shared components I use are my freshest rechargeable batteries and sometimes the battery connector.  I literally have a styrofoam cooler filled with cables in my shed.  LOL.

The exception to the above it if I'm recording multiple stages at the same time at a festival.  Then I have to cross my fingers and hope my older batteries are still working at capacity and don't die too early. 

There are two main reasons I can think of that I keep buying the same shit, like interconnects, over and over again 1) I forget what I already have and pick up a new pair of the same thing, or b) I'm already at a festival and find that I left something at home so I have to run to the local music store or Wal-Mart or wherever and buy another set.

A nice feature about the Sony A10 is that the recorder has a USB plug built into it that slides in and out from the bottom of the recorder.  This allows me to just plug the A10 directly into a USB port on my computer when I get back from a show and download the files without ever having to take the SD card out of the A10.  So, I never have to worry about the SD card; it's always right there inside the A10.  Another nice thing about plugging in the A10 to my computer is that it recharges the deck's internal battery whiles it's plugged in.

Since it's always charged and always has an SD card in it, when it comes to my recording deck, the only thing I really ever pay attention to is the amount of storage left on the SD card.

Same here. I ran my A10s for a couple of years using only the internal storage, and the only difference in my workflow now that I use SD cards is which drive I click on to transfer files.

Recording decks and Mics get their own Pelican case, Media gets stored in a multi SD card hardshell case, otherwise everything else is organized into plastic bins/totes for clamps, mounts, cables, etc when not in use.

Otherwise the individual bags for each recorder sit empty unless needed. I know I tend to overthink things and this is just how I've dealt with it. Do not want dust getting into the inputs so those all have custom 3D printed plugs as well. Sometimes I am not utilizing all channels when running so the unused ones stay protected in the bag.
