Recording Setting Recommendation for KPOP Arena Concert
« on: September 02, 2024, 08:08:51 PM »
Hi, I have a small gig (media pass) in a few days for filming an arena concert tour. This time, I decided to invest in some recording equipment for the first time but I have zero knowledge of how to set it up well, so asking for some guidance!

My Recording Setup:

Zoom F3 Field Recorder

DPA 4061 Omni Loud SPL Lav Microphone x2

Microdot to XLR Adapter x2

Arena Stage Setup:

Medium Sized Indoor Arena (Tacoma Dome)

General Admission - Standing Floor

Main Stage

Cat Walk (I will be filming in this area most of the time)

Question:

1. Ideal settings in this type of environment?

2. Where to position my omni mics and where to aim them (The sound stage stereo mix is already packed with media passes wanting the audio so unfortunately out of options.)

Any advice I would appreciate it, thank you!

Tacoma dome is far from small! capacity is 21000

Since you have a pass perhaps inquire if you could put your gear  / bag onstage.  The gear you have is tiny , you could possibly put it near a monitor and get great sound.
if thats not an option I would still opt for the closest place near the speakers / stack to eliminate the echo / boom inherent to this venue.

Are the XLR/microdot adapters from DPA, DAD6001 or ? If so you're fine powering the mics with phantom through those. But if they are just a connector-to-connector adapter you will fry the mics with +48V (or +24V) phantom power.
