Easiest way to use DPA 4061s with iPhone 11?
« on: July 17, 2025, 03:10:20 PM »
I was wondering what the easiest way would be to record with my iPhone 11 (Lightning input) using my DPA 4061 stereo pair with microdot connectors, powered by the DPA MPS6030 (9V battery supply with 3.5mm miniplug output)?

If that setup works, which iOS app would you recommend for setting gain and recording in stereo?

All tips are appreciated!

  • If it's too loud, turn it down.

Rode AI Micro works just fine in my experience. I think Sound Professionals in the US sells something cheaper as well.

So I can just plug the single stereo mini plug jack coming out of the MPS6030 into one of the two input jacks on the Rode AI-Micro, right?

Easiest way BY FAR is the dpa mma:a d-vice.  They're a little hard to find, but still out there.  Sound quality is excellent, and it works well.

Yes, input 1 is a stereo jack. The only issue with the device IMO is that you cannot use it with a splitter to grab USB-C power, so it wasn't super useful for me as my use case was open taping/streaming.

Apogee Metarecorder is the app to use for recording once you get it set up.

Yeah this is absolutely the easiest way. Just keep an eye out for one, they pop up every once in a while

I was in a similar boat not long ago and it reminded me how fragile those old recordings can be...
