DAP (Digital Audio Player, previously known as mp3 player ;-)
« on: January 22, 2026, 11:31:28 AM »
Just picked up FiiO JM21 for High Resolution playback, in an effort to get off my phone and provide a portable option when away from connectivity.
Things that impressed me initially: SD card, 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs, powerful outputs and line-out.  Android 13, smaller than cellphone.

I wish I was using nicer headphones, but I've found Grado sr80's to work very well.
Anyone else rocking a newer DAP?

I'm still using my old Fiio X5 gen II.  Been using it for about 11 years, but need to upgrade.  I planning on getting another Fiio my X5 has been solid.

I've a Hiby R1 I use only at work or when commuting with a bunch of different IEM's. Wanted something standalone for focused listening and not have the distractions of my phone.

Thought about an Android DAP though since my library is entirely on Plexamp but since it doesn't have 5G/cell service it'd be redundant as I do most of my home listening at my desktop with good Beyerdynamics. When I do want Plexamp on my phone I have a DAC for that.
Current Rig: DPA 4061 > JGSound Battery Box BB2 > Sony PCM-A10, Backup/Loaner Kit: CA-14 Cards > Soundman A3 Adapter > Edirol R-09
