Looking for an SD card for the TASCAM DR-2d
« on: May 27, 2026, 01:02:07 PM »
Hello everyone,

Could someone please help me out?

I am using the TASCAM DR-2d recorder specifically for its dual recording feature, and I need to get some new SD cards for it.

Up until now, I have been using the:

SanDisk Extreme 16GB SDHC UHS-I U3 memory card (up to 90MB/s read)

Unfortunately, this model is no longer available.

Could anyone please recommend an alternative SD card?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Could you please tell me exactly which
SD Card you are using?

Then I can check if it's still available.

That would be great!
Thanks!

Stick to 16gb cards.  The 32gb cards sometimes cause issues.  Looks like the 16gb cards going up in price.  Last time I bought they were half the price.   Faster speeds fine as there are other links besides the one I posted.  I have used TRanscend cards of similar specs in a pinch but generally stay with Sandisk.

Where in Europe?  I am heading to Amsterdam in a week.   If you can't easily find I could bring some over but would need to order by Friday.

Where are you?  They could be mailed once I am there if you can't locate any.  Retail stores won't carry the inventory so need to get them online.

Wow, that's a great offer from you, very kind.
I've already found a few offers online where I'll order them myself.

Nevertheless, thank you again for your help!

I've not found DR2d to be picky about SDHC cards.  I mostly used Sandisk Ultra 16 or 32GB for the past 15 years, but used Transend early on, and have used many others in a pinch without problems.

The Quick Format option is fine if you already know the card is good and that it works fine in the DR2d.  The Full Format option takes a lot longer but also checks the card for errors, making it a good option for use with a new card prior to recording with it for the first time.

I agree with the full format.  Only time I had a 16gb fail on me was a quick formatted card.  In regards to 32gb cards I have had multiple failures so I do not use them any more.  I also use them once so if I need to reuse once they are no longer available I have a hundred cards.  I also still have a dozen from the last order I made.  Half in US and half in Europe.
