what are you using to stealth?

so ive done a couple stealth recordings, a few times with core sounds stealth mics > d8 and once with my skm140s >mme >d8
the core sounds tapes sucked but very low key and the skm 140 tapes smoked but not very low pro, looking to invest in a pre and ad strictly for stealthin'....... we have a amazing foundation here in slc called GAM they put on a jazz series every winter and this years line up smokes joey defransesco, pat metheny, wynton marsalis, etc. and these all need to get taped interested in what are you guys/gals using?

An MP2 would fit your needs.  I stealth the 140's with it, into an M1, with favorable  results.

mp2, psp-2, sax are all some small pre's you could easily stealth w/.  also have you checked out jk labs stuff?

The Aerco MP-2 is built for stealthing!  Small black box.  No lights.  Runs off 3 internal 9V.  Sounds great!

tonight, i stealthed with this rig:  ak40>lc3>km100>mv100>m1.  ak40 were mounted in my hat > lc3 > km100 directly into the mv100 > m1.  very doable and the results were sweet.

I have no problem stealthing w/ my ak40's...I did Dylan AK40">M148>D7 and Bonnie Raitt w/ 40's>MME>D7  both in a very small place.  Want smaller....DPA>SX2....psp-2 or 3 are small too.

I've done one show with it so far, Aimee Mann a week and a half ago, the tape came out sweet! The best sounding show I've taped so far.

No unfortunately the micros are super power hungry, I made a battery pack to run with it. From my testing I'd say that's pretty accurate with normal mics. It ran about 50 mins before the low battery LED came on using a nine volt, the low batt light on the ps2 comes on immediately when you plug the mics in.


One note the pre amp is noisier than the ad20 preamp at high levels, if your going to use it for very quiet acoustical music you may want to use something else.

the 4061's are virtually invisible

just out of curiosity .... how do you stealth a V3 and a 6v batt?

or is that some sort of stealth trade secret?
