  i TOTALLY agree w/ you 100%....phuck removable media costs...i LOVE having an actual tape, but for the money i've spent on blanks, i could've bought a new pre/ad combo....oh well,  times change...

just a guess, but i just gotta imagine this will be manufactured in the same case/ shell as the other recorders they are working on.  (USBPre size).  only stands to reason for replication of manufacturing processes/ parts already tooled/ extrusions designed/ etc.  

however, they might be able to re-tool the front face/ display and get this to work in the MP-2 case.  this would also most likely preclude the loss of the removable media, but i don't think anyone here is concerned with that option anyway.  all conjecture, but i'd bet on either the MP-2 or USBPre extrusion to be a lock.

Righto, Scott. If they made the stripped-down, recorder-only version (what I'd be interested in) the size of the MP-2... wowies.

from the info they released at NAB it looks like these HD recorders will be about the exact same dimesions as their 302 compact production mixer.  

scott is right though......all these companies love to reuse older designs.  unfortunatelt, that is exactly what apogee did with the mini me....and well you can see how sometimes you need a design change.  

anyway, these HD recorders look very promising.  i have e-mailed some questions to Sound Devices.  once i hear back i will post what they say.
