It does sound cool.

I have always stuck with the tape marker pens for my own master CD's and not marking on them at all for trades.
What I do know is that someone long ago decided that sticking those CD stomper labels on archivable CD-RW's is BAD.
so, this may be a solution for some.

i have definitely seen those before, and I really want to try one to see if I like it, but don't want to have to buy the thermal discs...

certainly would be nice to have all the info printed on my discs, though.

If you just want to print text info I know there is a cheaper unit for that.

HP is pushing a printer that can print on CD's, along with your everyday pringint needs. It looks so-so. Colors are kinda faded.

Casio makes a few that are cheaper.  Don't know which would be better. You can read about them on Amazon.

But more importantly, I don't know what the long term effects of ink -- whether thermal or inkjet or otherwise -- are on the longevity of the discs.  Until someone can answer that, I'll pass.

I didn't realize ( read ::) ) that it needed thermal discs.  that would take it's usefulness down a notch or 2 for me.

http://store.yahoo.com/cdrsavings/taiyonotfuji.html

from what I read here, the White TY's are for inkjet and the silvers are for thermal printing.  I guess I was wrong about any "inconvenience" since I have been using the silvers all along.
