Ok so I went over to the OADE website and I only found that the battery is a 4.5 aH NiMH.

I looked for information on the draw of the UA5 and did not find anything

The UA5 draw numbers are in the link I posted earlier:  450 mA.  So...

4500 mAH / 450 ma * .8 = ~8 hrs

This is just an estimate, actual run-time will depend on battery charge, mic draw, etc.

I would go with the firewire pre-amp vs the USB one.  You might run into probs w/ running 24/96 over the USB bus.  One thing though, the firewire Edirol might not be able run stand-alone (without the laptop in the chain).  That means that you might not be able to run it w/ your MD or JB3 or DAT, whereas the UA5 can be modded to run stand-alone.
