the imaging question is based on not stack taping and running center at a show that runs a stereo PA

or maybe something acoustic or onstage.  Really, anything besides a stack tape would be great.  Just looking for something where I have a point of reference.

i use a lithium 9v from wall mart for the mytek.  it's run 3+ hours so far, though i haven't pushed it more

i would like to hear your impressions of portico.

i'd like to run it in someplace other than irving plaza.  the room was boomy as hell, so it's hard to get a low end impression from the box.

i run 12v 7aH SLA's for both the mytek and neve units.  both are overkill.

agree with scott; irving is not the proper proving ground for this box. 

i'll get it out again when i can.

Thanks guys for the info.  I just purchased a Portico myself...It was out of my price range so I am going to run it w/ a cheaper AD for a while.  I hope to have some onstage local jazz band recordings soon; mg m200/270 > portico 5012 > AD500 > JB3...I will repost to this thread when I do.

- yeah, I am actually pretty psyched about that, as I am OK with staying w/ 16 bits for a while.  I just got that in the mail - the new rig is gonna weigh a lot more than the UA-5 did!

I'd really like to give this pre a spin in some acoustic circumstances!

- Give me a few months to fiddle w/ it - then shoot me a PM.  I have no problems loaning it to you, especially given some of the wierd stuff you tape...not that many Sitars in beantown!

did you guys run the silk switch? it reduces the negative feedback..so i guess it should have less color with the switch on

the portico arrived the other day  .  my mics are still being repaired, so i can't test it out yet - but it looks really cool.  the lights are really bright and the unit itself is very heavy.  the manual is 7 pages (i will post this in the archive section soon), and it comes w/ a 1 year warranty.  i found some pics of the inside of the unit on gearslutz.com.

I can't imagine having one and no mics ready to use. I hope you get them back soon!
