I run the Nak CM300's, and for the time being I am using conventional AA's for the internal power. Lately, I have been forced to really crank the levels on the UA-5 to get a decent signal to the JB3, which may be causing this problem.
The Nak's come with a built in switchable bass rolloff switch, which I used to tape a rock show last night in a really bad, bassy room. Again, I had to crank the UA-5 levels pretty hard. I threw the bass rolloff switch on because I knew that it would be muddy.
I came home, put the show on, and I hear clipping every time the bass drum hits. Even though I new this was going to happen, I thought for sure that the Bass Rolloff would kill that, but it obviously didn't.
Could the fact that I am having to crank the UA-5's levels be the problem with this bass overload? This is not the first time it has happened, recently it has been happening with the rolloff switch on and off.
Anyone have any suggestions?
