MBHO actives - clarifying question
« on: July 13, 2005, 05:39:43 PM »
I have MBHO 603s.  I want to get the active setup so I can stealth.  Is all I need to get the active cables?  I.E. will they work with the 603 bodies or is the 603A a different body?

Thanks for your help.
rigs:

open: mbho 603 > sound devices mp2 > gp adc20 > d8
stealth: sound pros cmc8 > sound pros battery box > d8

603a is a different body -- on the 603a, the capsule screws into a sub-assembly that connects to the body via a mini-xlr connector.  To run active, a cable is plugged into the mini-xlr from the sub-assembly and back into the other mini-xlr on the 603a body.

On the 603 (non-a), the capsule screws directly into the body

thanks.  so i can't just unscrew the capsule from the 603 body, screw it into the active cable and plug the active cable into the 603 body?  frank at cascade said that would work, so i just bought the active cables (haven't arrived yet though).  is his interpretation incorrect?
