LSD2 Owners...step inside
« on: October 26, 2006, 09:57:41 PM »
How do you all store your mic when taking it out into the field?  I've been looking around but don't need to re-invent the wheel if you've got something working well.

THanks.

I never found anything I liked better than the case it comes in.

The case it comes in is fine if you have a camel to tote it.  I carry my LSD2 in a large plastic pencil case I got at Staples, it is 13"x5"x2 1/2".  I have it lined with strips of foam.  Works for me.

Thanks Jeff.  I didn't find anything at staples, I'll have to look again.  I also found a "saltine tuperware" to keep crackers fresh--that might work.  The lid seems a little janky though.

I carry mine in a tight space in the top of my Rakgear bag, but I keep it in the windscreen and furry rat/rycote-type windscreen as well for extra protection.

I have a lady at work sewing me a custon foam lined bag.  like the bags you can store good glass in to keep them from breaking. I have a zipper put down the side for easy access. When she finishes it I will post some pics.

^^^Nice^^^.  I like that idea.  I was just concerned about flying with it and didn't want to cart the flight case.  So I built a PVC tube with caps.  The 3" thin pvc keeps it perfectlly snug with the wind screen on.  I just stuffed a little foam in the tube so the body didn't cling around.   Worked well.  I'll try and post some photos later.

Not an owner, but salivating heavily!  I worked at a plumbing supply for several years, and what came to mind for storage, is foam pipe insulation.  It comes in a variety of of diameters X 6' lengths, and is split down the center.  It would make a good liner for a bag, or pipe.

Just my .02

I just wanted to bump this old thread to see if anyone had any new ideas about LSD2 bags/cases.  I'm gonna start at Staples and the hardware store and see what I can come up with..

Corbin,

The pvc pipe solution was really the best I found.  It works perfectly.  The only problem is that it's a little shady flying with it.  I always have it out and open for securtiy--If you look into this route, you've got to go with the thinner diameter PVC.  I've since sold the mic so I can't post any photos.

GOod luck.

Buy a large handle of Crown Royal. Drink the Crown & use the bag for the LSD2.  >:D
