Audio coaxial cable for my MT
« on: March 03, 2007, 02:28:29 PM »
Hi
I'm planning to make my own digital coax cable for my MT.. At the moment I'm using a thick monster coaxial cable which is too thick and long.

What I want to know is:

Is there any difference in video coaxial and audio coaxial cables?

Do people use a normal RCA connector like this for audio coax cables?

Can the above fit the tight RCA jack of the MT?

Is it possible to purchase a right angle version?

Where can I buy a light weight and flexible cable? Is this the cable I should Canare 75 ohm digital video Micro Coaxial Cable?

I know core-sound's coax cable is thin and light weight..
http://www.core-sound.com/7-pin-coax-blurb/1.php

Anyone know where I can purchase the core-sound's coax cables and what connector they use? I got their 7 pin cable and tried their connector with my MT's jack and it fits.

Simon,
either audio or video coax cable should be fine, as long as it's 75 ohm cable.  for the connector, I really like the switchcraft right-angle RCA's.  they are a nice snug fit, but not too tight.  and the fit with MT S/PDIF jack great.
I've got one extra right-angle connector.  if you don't need right-angle connectors on both ends, you could always go to radio shack, buy a S/PDIF cable, cut it down to the length you want, and then solder on this connector. :)
but, I only have one extra right-angle connector, so if you want a right-angle on both ends, you'll have to buy a couple more.
see ya,
Jason

Nick, lost your number since I installed Vista on my computer, how about shooting me an email. I'm not sure you received my last one since my computer seems possesed as of late.
