Topic: I Need 24 bit Help

I learned this morning I don't even know how to burn a music DVD.
Thought I'd throw my unedited recording onto a disc and give it a listen, see how it sounds, and it won't play.
I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.
Can someone point me to some 24-bit "How To" threads?
I need to do a lot of reading and I don't know where to start.
I recorded 15+ hours this past weekend on my R-09 . . . now I need to learn what the hell to do with it.

do you have a DVD player capable of reading DVD-A? If its older the answer is likely no. If yes, the easiest way to do a quick burn is to convert the file to FLAC and then use DVD-Audiofile (http://24bit.turtleside.com/DVD-Audiofile0.42win.zip)

Click on "Add Files" to add the file(s) when you are done click on Create ISO. When you choose a file name be sure to add .iso to the end of the file. Save it somewhere easy to find. You then need to use your burning software to burn the ISO file to disc.

If you use nero the easiest way is to open Nero Express and click "Burn Disc Image or Saved Project." Add the ISO file to the project and burn away.

It'll depend on the player.....my Acura will do DVD-R, but NOT DVD+R.   I'd suggest burning one of each and doing a test.  If you're lucky, they will both work

let me know if you need any help with the dither/resampling process - really not much once you get the hang of it, and soon you'll have stuff seeding quicker than you could have transferred the DAT

You know me, Mikey . . .  I'll need help.   
Is there more to it than saving it in 16/44 format?  Sound Forge gives me the option of saving it in different formats.
Okay . . .  it's probably not the easy.  Wishful thinking, maybe.

no, its no harder than that.  but there are better ways, better software..etc.

IMO, master at 24/44.  that makes things MUCH easier.  and you wont miss those measley 4000 odd samples per second.  there aint crap in there any way.

Thanks for the info.  I've been wondering how to do the DVD-a thing.  On the subject of dithering.  What is everyone using now?  I've seen the "shoot-out" article but I can't find a copy of mega-bit-max anywhere.

Anyone have a copy of MBM i can "test out".

I've been using soundforge and r8brain to dither/resample....how do those stand up?

Only place I know of for MegaBitMax on a Windows platform:  iZotope Ozone.  They offer a free trial version (only outputs ~40 seconds of audio before inserting a 1 sec stretch of silence).  Full retail ~$250, but I suspect it's available elsewhere for less, though I've not looked much.

Without starting a platform war, I will say that if you owned a Mac, this wouldn't be an issue. Buy Wave Editor and get that for free. They licensed the iZotope code and built it directly into their product.

Thanks for chiming in, Wayne - I thought MBM was included in one of the available Mac editors, but wasn't sure which one.  Good info.
