In this example, I have a shotgun mic and an omnidirectional mic, both are mono.
If I set one to the left and to the right in the venue is the mix going to sound really strange, creating a L/R stereo mix?
Or how may it sound if I mix them both to a mono center mix? Worse, better, or just different?
And to round out this hypothetical situation, what if one of the mics was stereo, while the other remained mono, both mics are positioned in the center of the venue - one near front, one near back - and you created a centered stereo mix?
My main question is how important is it to have the same types of microhphones in order to utilize in a competent mix later, that doesn't sound strange or especially weak in certain areas?
