I have read everyone say that owning Schoeps mics is an investment so I assume it is

Let's put it this way, 8 years ago I bought my MK4V's new for $700 per capsule out of Germany. Now they are $1278 each. Not that I'd ever sell them, but if I did, I wouldn't be selling them for less than I paid for them, that's just reality.
Now if I could just go back in time, I never would have sold my Neumann TLM-170's which I sold for $1400 each. They'd be 10 years old now and worth at least $2000 each on the used gear market.
