As far as I know, FR-2 cards are *not* hot-swappable.However, you do not need to turn off the machine.Stop recording, wait for the TOC to write and then press "eject CF card" - then plug in the new card and off you go.

I appreciate the information.When you press the "eject CF card" button, it properly shuts it down so you can remove it - *don't* jut pul it out without doing this.
When you remove a memory card from the slot, make sure that the unit is powered off.
