Power Sources For The SBM1
« on: March 21, 2005, 06:46:08 PM »
Hey Everybody,
Currently, I power the sbm and my d100 from a 7.2 lead acid.  thinking about dropping the d100 since i've got a jb3 and don't want to lug around that big battery just for the sbm.   What are the best small/light options to power the sbm for about 5 hours or so?   I have the original tip from the wall wart that I used to use with a dcell sled but want something smaller and rechargeable if possible.

Thanks,
Gray

You ought to get ~5 hrs on a set of high capacity NiMH AA rechargeables.  But for safety's sake, buy 2 sets and swap them out between sets - opener/1st set, swap for 2nd set.  Just not necessary to schlep around lead for the SBM-1, IMO.

Thanks Brian.   I'll be very happy to get the lead and the d100 out of my bag :)    I've been running the jb3 alongside the dat for almost a year w/ no problems.  Its finally time to give in.

Good source for AA NiMH rechargeables and chargers:  www.thomasdistributing.com]Thomas Distributing, though some folks are going the road of picking up inexpensive batts at Target / Walmart and getting a quality charger from TD.
