Sorry to hijack the thread (but this is somewhat related): For the following DPA's, that are terminated to TA4F mini XLR's, how do you connect those to 48V Phantom Power via a standard XLR cable? Is that even possible?http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/952551-REG/dpa_microphones_4061_b10k_standard_sens_mini_omni.htmlWould the Audio-Technica AT8538 work?http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/462543-REG/Audio_Technica_AT8538_AT8538_Phantom_Power_Supply.html
Pillowman, It might work to plug your 4061 pair directly into the R-09 with PIP switched on, but they will not be optimally powered. I did that a few times with a few different pairs of DPAs. Some did not work at all, some did. If they do work they will have a lower maximum SPL before overload and may distort. Better to power them correctly even if they work.
Maybe for some limited number of people who only run dpa lavs and commit to not running other mics there could be a recorder mod possible to change the pip bias resistors. If this could be done it looks like no battery box would be needed.
