i bought some canare right angle xlr 20 footers from someone on here a couple years ago... i believe it was Daryan.
anyhow... i finally got around to trying them out last night (wanted to use them for DMB on 09-05-05) and there is a large amount of crackeling in them. i thought the soldering may be bad because it happens whenever i just touch a cable.... so i opened up one of the connectors and sure nuff... some of the solder points are completely out of the connector.
i've never even used these before so it's kind of disapointing... anyone know how to get ahold of him or does anyone know how to fix this? i've never soldered anything in my life. :o

at least he didn't build you a power cable that caused a fire in the section

cease and sesist
<<huh? ??? >>
just think of the biggest can worms. you might have opened it! ;) ;) ;)
you may have stray wires if the strands werent tinned or soldered together correctly, I would consider sending them to someone who can help clean the insides up if needed
an old joke. do some searching and you'll figure it out.
if you'd like me to look at the cables, let me know. it shouldn't be too hard to fix. if you have a continuity tester, you'll be fine fixing them yourself.
long story.... Daryan has a long and sordid past around here :P
to his credit though he seems to be behaving himself better now
justink ...he pops up mainly in the team MG board and Playback forums.
hes supposed to be sending me some splitters , and hope they destroy my Mics.. >:D :) :P
j/k he seems to be real square dealing lately..

wait a second, daryan is selling stuff here again??
yeah...he sold me a pair of cables also...i had to fix them myself. see my post from many moons ago here:

i bought some purple canare cables with right angle neutric connectors from daryan. i went through 2 shows that are now unlistenable because there was noise on of the channels and/or interemittant cut-outs in each show. turns out there was a short on the soldering of the cables to the connectors. i opened up the connector and couldnt believe what i saw. it was a mess in there. it looked like a blind person had soldered the connections. i had to resolder the cables myself and added heat shrink wrap, and now they work fine.
well, it is iowa :P
it didn't actually cause a fire, but apparently just a bunch of sparks started shooting out of a piece of gear, which was quickly pulled apart. it happened in the section at UNO for panic in 2003, i believe. i wouldn't use the cables unless you know how to use a multimeter to test the cables to make sure they are soldered correctly and passing current to the proper pins. that's just me, though. to daryan's credit, i believe he will give you your money back.
I remember seeing that. Funny shit.

Unless, of course, it was your gear on the hot end of the cable :o

i think i'd better send them to someone who knows what the heck they're doing alot more so than myself. ;)
heath, you up for the task? pm me and let me know how much and your address and everything... i appreciate it greatly.

take em to a quality audio shop, or maybe a RadShack employee as a side job?

yes 03, yes funny
Daryan did make me whole on the ordeal as he refunded all money I paid to him. There was no damage to the actual piece of gear

The toshiba, with about 50 solder joints done by me is OK too isn't it? I just want to make sure.
