I am looking to spend anywhere from 100-300 on a portable pre for stealth recording. Anyone know of any nice sounding pre's about the size of the Microtrack that I should look into? Thanks in advance!

this is an easy one...PM Chris Church(Church-Audio) and he will help you out. i'm more than pleased with my church box. you can view them on his ebay page but PM him for a better price.

If you want to do 16-bit, get a used Sony SBM-1. There have been (and may still be) a couple floating around the Yard Sale section. It is an A/D, but will make your recordings sound good. I also used a Denecke AD-20 and liked that a lot. Combination preamp and A/D. Both units are very stealthable and fit in your price range.
I have no idea of what to use if you want to do 24-bit in that budget.

I can sell you the Church Audio ST-9000 shipped for $80 (still under warranty, thanks Chris)
