If you go looking for NAK's remember the Teac's and Tascam Clones...and batteries are no problem if you have the TS Nak Guru Walstib Phantom mod them...I still can't believe I sold my Phantom Mod Teac ME80's...they blew away a set of $1000 Hypers on the same stand on this night;

Hi,

I was curious as to whether anyone had any experience with these mics. They look beautiful and have great feature including hypercard, card, and omni heads. Anyone have an opinion on them?

Anyone have any they would be interested in selling as well?

I run them on occasion. Good starter mics. There are two versions of the C4s, the first version had one switch and the second version had two. I have both but recommend the two switch model. As I understand it, the second version came out to address some issues with the earlier model. Nothing major but I have had an earlier version die on me, the second version are still going strong. The hyper caps are great for cutting through a reverberant room or crowd noise. A little on the bright side though. I might even buy some more one day to use as spot mics onstage since I have moved on to multitrack recording.

^ I've been running the omnis as additional sources on stage lately.  Happy w/the results so far.  I ran C4s for quite a while till I picked up ADK TL's.  The most noticeable difference is in the clarity/presence in the bass.  The C4s are a little softer there than higher priced spreads, (Read: AKG, Neumann, DPA) but are quite good on acoustic sources.

I'm with you. When I got my ADK-tl's I moved the C4s to the back burner but often use them at stage lip in either omni or card. It depends on the show or the type crowd I expect. I was running multitrack last night for a band to maybe use as a CD so I broke out the TL's in split omni at stage lip and put my LSD2 in the middle running Blumlien. Sadly some really drunk woman came in and had to immediately make her funky dance moves across the dance floor, over a monitor and into the LSD2. It fell over and now has a nice dent in one of the grills. I hope she has a really miserable hangover today! Later some other ass hit the LSD2 but didn't manage to do anything other than rock it. So usually I run the C4's so I'm not out as much if they get destroyed.
