hmm, so does one need a HDMI receiver that can take a DSD signal then? (assuming that it is not doing DSD>PCM before outputting) AFAIK, all the players that could output DSD so far would only do it over an encrypted and proprietary connection (usually 1394?) to a receiver of the same brand that was designed to work with that player. I think I remember seeing a Denon player that would output DSD to a Denon receiver over an encrypted connection in Stereophile a while ago??
That would be pretty cool if DSD players would allow output of the raw bitstream, but with Sony at the helm somehow I have a hard time believing that will ever be the case.
