Hello,

From an engineering design standpoint is it possible to have either the AT853 or the AT943 mics terminated in dpa microdot connectors and powered by the dpa mma6000?

Potential rig would be:

AT853 or AT943  > DPA MMA6000 > MT2496


CMC-4U (ATU853) or CMC-8 (AT943)  > DPA MMA6000 > MT2496

If this configuration would physicall work would it eliminate any need for the 4.7k/low sensitivity/Church mod for the AT mics?

The mic mod is only "necessary" when you power the mics "2wire" instead of "3wire" like the way they were designed. The mics are of the "3 wire configuration". When you run them with the AT power modules,a denecke ps2, or a custom made 3 wire BB they will not distort at high. While it is "less expensive" to do it the 2wire/mod route...it simply is that the mics were not designed to be used like this and perform better ran 3wire (you do not lose any gain)

I'd like to run the mics with my dpa mma6000...

My mistake, I thought you may be buying a DPA power supply to do this,didn't realize you had one already. In that case, I'm not exactly sure. Don't seem to remember anyone with this lineage before, that's not to say it isn't possible and hasn't been done. Good question. How are those DPA boxes wired? And are switching from DPA to AT mics??

Keeping the dpa omnis - waiting on the dpa "instrumental recording" mini cards - the dpa 4080 cards do not fill the bill for what "we" need, but I'm told that other variations of the dpa mini card are being considered.  Until that time, I need a nice set of mini cards and the at's are out there.  (I'm also looking forward to Chris's ca-14's).

So your're gonna chop the "micros" from a set of mics you have? If this would work to begin with, should just order extra connects and make an adaptor cable, leaving the mics still usuable.

I'm not chopping off the microdot connectors from the mics that I already have and I didn't intend to in the first place.

I have a change of tactics now > according to Moke's design I'd add a 1/8" stereo input connector to the dpa mma6000 by replacing the HPF switch/circuit on the dpa mma6000 - Then tie the AT's together into a "Y" stereo pair, or keep them separate and combined via a "Y" cable (mono/mono->stereo y cable).  That is what I will plan on doing if I can find someone to do it for me.  I wish that I were "solder certified" but I am not.
