I've had my Microtrack for about 3 years now.  Just recently I was able to get it to charge up buy purchasing a new charger.  But now, everytime I power up the unit it displays the message "No Media Found" when I have a card inserted that has worked for years.  Also, when I try the "connect to pc" option, my computer does not find the Microtrack.  I am running firmware 1.4.5 and noticed that 1.4.6 was released on 3/26/08 but am unable to do the firmware upgrade because of the problem listed above.  I would be very appreciate if someone could help me with my problems.  Thanks in advance.

Scott

It sounds like a bad card. If you had a card in the MT that was not being read, The PC might not see the unit as there is no media in it.

Otherwise it sounds like a possible bas USB cord. I know you mentioned getting a new charger, but as long as you had a good USB cable you still should have been able to recharge the deck from your PC.

I'd start with those two issues and hopefully you will have some luck.

Hey man.  I know the card is good, because it works fine in a Microtrack 2 and also works fine in my computer's card reader.  Also, the USB cord is brand new and works with the MT1 to charge with the wall outlet and through the computer.  Any other ideas?

Nothing else I can think of. I'd still be curious to see what happens with another CF card inserted. Maybe you can bring it into a store where they sell CF cards and try one out, just to see if anything different happens. Otherwise all I can think of is that the unit needs repair, or is not getting enough power to really power up enough.

Maybe someone else can chime in on this...

so you have a mt2 too?
does the card work in the mt2?
if so then you def have a mt1 issue
if not then i would say you have a card issue

if its a mt1 issue you might be able to fix it by reformatting the card in the mt2
you could poss even DL the latest firmware to your desktop and drag/drop in onto the card then see if anything happens when the card is put back into the mt1
the same kinda thing happened to me and my digital camera, all the sudden a card didn't work
when i got a friend to reformat it i put it back in my camera and it was fine

Scott,

MT1 is very picky on which cards it accepts.  Which card are you using?

I've tried the stock M-Audio card and also a Kingston Elite Pro 2 GB 50X compact flash card.  I haven't had problems with this card in the MT1 for years.  I'm guessing my MT1 is dying.  I'll have to call customer support one of these days.
