I'm talking with an artist about putting out a small-run 7" of my recording, just as a vanity project for myself and to put some extra cash in his pocket on the road (I'll pay to press it and I'll work out a generous deal with him on split above recoup).
I'm looking at running my regular rig (KM184>V2>SonyD50) in a living room, rehearsal space, whatever the guy wants, doing as many single takes as he wants 'til he's happy, but no multitracking/overdubs. The artist normally fronts a heavy-ish band, so this'll be something "soft" with just vocal and either acoustic or electric with a miniscule amp; a one-off of something different than his main output.
I've been leaning toward just running my regular DIN, or possibly ORTF. Given what we're going for, would you guys split the mic pair up, one on the guitar/amp and one on his voice? Or just stick with what I'd do for AUD taping in a small room?
