JB3 "access to file denied"
« on: June 09, 2008, 12:15:44 PM »
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've been through the FAQ and numerous threads (including ones dealing witht his exact topic), but I have not found any answers.

I'm transferring via USB (I don't have firewire) and continue getting the access to file denied message. I installed Nomad Explorer and the drivers available here. The JB3 is recognized and I've even been able to transfer a few mp3s, which leads me to believe everything on that end is kosher. I have tried various ports and cables, all of which I've had success with in the past with other devices. Any ideas? Aside from firewire or a sledghammer? Thanks.

Sounds like the file has been "locked" somehow. Can't help other than to suggest maybe trying some different software, like Notmad Explorer from RedChair or Sveta from the dbPoweramp folks.

http://www.redchairsoftware.com/notmad/

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/sveta-portable-audio.htm

One warning: when I installed Sveta to see if  I liked it (I did but not enough to purchase it) I also installed dbpoweramp at the same time. Either dbpoweramp or Sveta made itself the default program for every file type it handled. I hate software that does that. When I uninstalled it, the prior file associations were not returned and the uninstaller left little fragments all over my registry and hard-drive. Really pissed me off. Got a new comp a month or so later and have never messed with dbpoweramp again. All that said, I recommend trying Notmad first.

I'll give it a go, but I don't think that's going to work. The transfer begins alright, but then it gives me the access denied message ~ half way through. If it does work, you, sir, are genius ;)
