Topic: M/S matrix samplitude help

I know I have done this before - so it must be I am missing something simple. But I am trying to matrix a show M/S run through a V3 into the 744 with a pair of cards run through the 744 - recorded mono tracks. pan 2 tracks left, 2 tracks right.. set levels - export to wave 44.1 16 bit stereo and I end up with left track acting like 3 of the mono tracks were combined and right track looks like one track. So left is clipped and right is under. What am I missing?  Is it because I ran M/S encoded through the V3 mixed on the fly.

Have you checked the phase of the resulting waveforms?  I wonder if your V3 hasn't had the "polarity fix", yet, and so the V3 tracks are out of phase with the others?

Just as a follow-up note.. recording the mid into the side and vice versa will cause havoc on your m/s recording - especially if you are encoding on the fly. The down side to interconnects without tape to distinguish left from right. First time ever screwing up like this - I will certainly dummy proof this setup for the future.
