Was there a "AKG 414 stereo mic"?

No. While there were a few LD stereo mics made by AKG, the 414s are not. You are looking at a source error, and may never know for sure.

This is my bet too.  AKG sells individual mics and they also sell a matched stereo pair.  I would infer the lineage info to mean the latter - that a matched pair was used.  Either that or a stereo mic was used and the lineage is just written wrong.

It sort of depends on what exactly you mean by AKG414. There has been quite a few different microphones with that name.

The original (first) 414 did use the CK12 brass capsule, same as used in the famous C12 mic. There was a stereo version of that called C24 (using valves though, the 414 is solid state).

A later incarnation of  "stereo 414" was the 422. Even later is the 426.

im guessing they meant to write stereo mics, and maybe just left out the s at the end of mics ???
