Topic: Neumann KM84i's...Anyone run them here??

Hi. i just picked up a pair consecutive serial # 50546, 50547. $1300.00.. . Anyway anyone that still run these, im sure there are. With a V3.? These sound amazing. I used to tape alot, not so much anymore mostly all home studio stuff now... I haven't compared them to my 140's yet. But on acoustic guitar they are sickkkkkkkk. And im sure just about everything else..

d00d, you stole those things. +t fwiw, i ran them with a v2 a couple times. sounded good. but, i prefered them with a oade m148, but thats just me.

The KM 84 is a classic, and to my ears, definitely more real sounding than the KM 140 or 184.

By the way, I've measured numerous examples of this microphone type and can tell you that Neumann's maximum SPL specification of 120 dB for this model was quite conservative. The 0.5% THD point doesn't actually occur until 125 dB or so--and even above that point, the rise in distortion remains gradual for a while. I confirmed that with Martin Schneider at Neumann.

It's not that I think you should be spending your time where anything is that loud, but the microphone can handle it, is the point.
