the light slate?
« on: August 05, 2008, 08:45:25 PM »
Hi I am preparing a documentary and we will be 2 ppl 1 camera and i sound guy. I think a regular slate might be annoying for the ppl we will interview plus mose hassle for us, I am wondering about the old light slate they used, It gives a beep and a light flash for syncing really simple when you have a lot of material to shoot. Do you guys remember how it was called and if they still make that thing? Thanks

Yes, the Blooper light. Typical of non-professionals to get rattled by the clapper.
Something like this.

Google Blooper light

Sennheiser 418s>SDMixPre-D>RO9HR
Beyer MC930>Fostex FM3>NagraSD
Couple of Schoeps CMT441 too.

$480 for a flashing light and a beep? I'll make noises and flash people for that kind of money.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

I found a bloop slate for 20$, but 480$ for a blooper light!  I would save and buy a timecode slate at that price...
