I'm sure this has been covered but my search turned up nothing. I think the hdd on my 120 may be shot. here's what's going on.
the other day I deleted a bunch of shows (I use it for flac playback). anyway I then tried to defrag the drive and got a error about recycle bin nma2008-05-16 something or another. that was a show I deleted (properly in rockbox) and I emptied the recycle bin on my pc. yet I still get this error and can't defrag. anyway then comes yesterday the player was plugged in via usb and caused my system to freeze (3ghz dual core, 4 gigs of ram). I couldn't even reboot, it would get to post in the bios and freeze. unplugged it and all was well. I realize this could also be a usb port issue. the defrag issue happens on all my machines so that I know is something with the iriver.
so today I try again to defrag, same error. I then go to tun it on and it starts to load rockbox and just spins and clicks. I couldn't turn it off. so I reset it and loaded the most current rockbox on it. btw it now works fine plugged in to the pc. I can view files etc. new rockbox causes the same thing to happen when turning it on. spins and clicks and never loads.
I'm running a error check on the drive now. it was clicking but has stopped.
anyway if it is the drive.....
I have a 320 that I fried the circuits on (plugged in wrong adapter). should the drive in the 320 be ok?? if it is are they the same size so it could be used in the 120?
update before I posted. after the error check it now turns on just fine
still wonder about the 320 drive in case it really is on it's way out.
