If it sounds good there and is a complete mix, then there's a chance that a well-placed pair of mics will pick up what you want. If you can mix in a SBD feed, that sometimes helps stage lip recordings.

Beware of recording onstage if vocals,keys etc are coming out of FOH only. Even a well placed pair of mics onstage will only pick up these from the monitors...which often sound like a cardboard box with a woofer in it.

p.s. I love on-stage or stage-lip recording for bands that mix themselves well on stage(i.e. jazz or bluegrass).
