Saving recorded file to specified directory - Rockbox
« on: October 13, 2008, 01:01:38 PM »
I just had an experience this weekend recording that has brought up an issue.  While I was recording I recieved a low hard disk warning.  I knew the HD wasn't near full, but after the band I was recording I switched to my backup ihp120.  After recording I noticed that the files were saved in the root directory, and with a filename RSPDIF_xxxx.wav.

On my other ihp120, recordings are saved in the recordings directory, (yes the backup unit had that directory), with the filename rec_000x.wav

I formated the backup unit, and loaded the latest rockbox and created the recordings directory.  I did a test and it did the same as saturday night.  I have searched the manual to no avail.

How do I tell Rockbox where to auto save recordings, and possibly a filename?

to set the directory, select it in the file browser, bring up the context menu (longpress select) and select 'set as recording directory' from that menu.

the filename has changed quite a while ago to reflect the source, so if you record from spdif, it will be named like that.....

Thanks for the reply.....I can live with the filename, although it did freak me out at the show.

Oh... sorry to hear that.... I was the one that changed this to make the naming more helpful. Any specific reasons why pre-pending the recording source is not ok?

No real reason....just not what I'm used too.

It's fine now that I know what is going on.....

It actually makes more sense with the new format.....

As you can see I have a very old version on one of my irivers.  I figure it works perfect for what I need so why change  :)
