Hard shell Pelican-type cases?

Are there any good off brand cases similar in style to the Pelican brand?  I'd be using it for camera gear so I'd want something of decent size.  I know Pelican cases are really good but they're also fairly expensive for me.  Any recommendations?

I use an SKB brand hard case for my camera gear and love it. It was cheaper than Pelican, but I can't recall how much. My SKB is similar to the Pelican 1510 roller, and came with the camera divider insert thing.

Let me know the exact model if you can.  The Pelican 1600 was recommended to me by someone who has similar gear.  It's about $175.  I had though Pelican cases were more expensive.  Looks like an orange 1600 might be my Christmas request.

Check Otter Box, they make cases very similar to Pelican's . I can't recall how the pricing compares. Many head shops stock these in a number of sizes.

I can fit a lot of crap in mine (I have the divider system, not pick'n'pluck). I have a Canon 1DMk2, 2 flashes, 100-400 zoom, 85mm, 135mm, 28-70, 15mm, Pocket Wizards, and a bunch of cables, batteries and other oddities. With all that stuff in there it gets pretty heavy and awkward to carry long distances, but it has wheels so you can roll it. My only complaint is that the wheels don't stick out from the body very far, so it can be a bit of a pain to pull it across surfaces that aren't very smooth. But I think that it's design is pretty similar to the Pelican with respect to the wheels. The Pelicans have a little nicer latch and handle design, but not enough to worry about (IMO).

That Pelican 1600 is a monster. What kind of gear are you going to be toting around?

You should post a ISO in the YS for the 1600. I sold mine for 50 bucks in a ISO a while back.

I need to fit a Panasonic PV-GS300, GS320, Rode VideoMic, Nady CM-2S, Sony MS908c, Sony D50, Bescor MX-600 video light and battery back, iRiver H120 and H320, SP 9V preamp, CA 9V premp, 2 MM lapel mics, AC adapter for D50, H120, Bescor light, 5-6 Pannasonic batteries, 2 WA lenses, and tapes and various cables.  Right now I have a large Canon bag with everything except the Rode VM and Nady mic in it.  I keep those 2 mics along with extra tapes and cables in another carry bag.  The Canon bag is very good and keeps everything packed nicely but I'm out of room.  The Pelican case would allow me carry everything in one case and give me the assurance that it's protected from weather and idiots.

Take a look at the website for sizes.. They have all the same sizes as pelican. And yes its pick and pluck foam provided you order them that way. Also you can order things like locks as an option or just regular latches. They are a great case.

Looks like the RX-720F is the peer to the Pelican 1600.  I looked it up on digikey.com but it's not listed there.  Any other vendors in the US I can trust?
