I've been using one for a couple of months, but haven't updated the firmware yet.   I'll let you know how it works... that's good news.

Even with the better compression schemes, there's no line out so you're forced to use the crappy headphone amp.

Is the FLAC playback seamless/gapless?  I own a Cowon iAudio 7, and the sound quality is great.  It plays back FLAC but its not gapless, so I can clearly identify the track transitions.

while it's great to see more "mp3" players support FLAC, the TrekStor Vibez is the best that I've seen and used.  and the FLAC playback is seamless

How's the battery life on the TrekStor Vibez? I use a Cowon Iaudio 7 and the sound quality and
battery life (almost 80 hours per charge) are stellar. Just the playback is not seemless 
The Cowon menus are weak as well.

I picked up a Fuze for my wife so she could download audiobooks from the library. Its a 4gb version and its pretty small.

I use a Mac so files are drag and drop which I like, but I cant seem to get them to play in order. s1t01, s1t02, etc...
I still have to play around with it some more.

Damn Wii is occupying way too much of my time.

the Trekstor Vibez certainly isn't going to match the 80 hours per charge of the Cowon Iaudio 7.
I've never totally drained the Vibez battery until it died, but I think I've gotten very close after 7 or 8 hours.  and that 7-8 hour battery life is more than enough for me.  I've got the 12gb version, which has a microdrive inside.  I'm very tempted to buy a solid state 32gb CF card, both to increase the storage size, and it should help increase the battery life even more.

it also seems as though Trekstor has recently "upgraded" the Vibez recently.  on the trekstor website, they now offer it in 8gb, 16gb, or 32gb models (they used to offer only 8gb or 12gb).  and the new model comes with a solid state flash drive instead of the microdrives.

edit to add:
Trekstor advertises 20 hours of battery life (with the new flash memory units).  If I had to guess, it's probably not that much, but probably somewhere in between the 8 that I get and the 20 that's advertised.

I finally got around to updating firmware and can say flac files sound much better than 328kbps mpg3 files.  I wasn't sure how much detail was being lost in the amp circuit, but it holds up pretty well.  It is a good deal, expecially as micro sd prices keep falling and getting bigger.

I'm glad you posted here...now I can bug you about a music player.

I am currently using my h120 but I don't want to abuse it just to listen to music so I'm looking for a portable music player that is not an ipod. Does this Sansa fuze have a line-out or just headphone out?

Mainly I would like a player with line-out and the ability to play FLAC files. Should I just see about getting another H120 for these request?

No, the fuze has no line out.  But the headphone amp. is OK... for the price, they are a good choice for an all around portable listening experience while working out, walks, bungee jumping, etc.. You're not going to get your rocks rolling over the quality, but ipods don't do it either.  I use an old Sony 421 sports discman cdplayer with line out into a Ray Samuels Hornet amp>westone um2 headphones for my higher end portable listening setup.  And, I take along a set of HHB Circle 3A speakers to share with.....

Is this thing off the market?  This sounds like the best choice to use in my car for seamless FLAC playback through the AUX input, but I can't find it for sale anywhere.  All of the resellers listed on their website have accessories for sale, but not the actual player.  Even eBay turned up nothing.

If this is no longer available, is there another option which will play 16- and 24-bit FLACs seamlessly and has a decent headphone output (if not a line output)?

@rastasean... grab a cheap iriver h320 rockbox it and do the battery mod/ CF mod. Works great and can also be used as a backup recorder... just my $.0.02
