AT-3035 for Field taping ?

Has anyone tried the Audio Technica 3035 large diaphramis cardioids for live music recording ?

They look sexy, are priced cheap, and best yet, don't have the word "Pro" in their name.
At $180 each with shockmounts, they may be an alternative to the Oktavas.

Any indication of weight ?  AT's website isn't high on detailed info.

i've seen them flown this year, a kid at b-roo had them.  they aren't bad i wouldn't think, more people are getting into LD condensors, as i might be getting some for my home recording work, but i would like to try them in the field.  any one using LD's have any comments..  weight and what not..  as long as you have a sturdy stand i'd say you will be ok...

I'm sure they will sound much better than the Oktavas as well. I have never used my AT4040 LD mics for live stuff (and you really wouldn't want to since they have a nasty bump in them). But when I tested some Oktavas I wasn't impressed by either the sound or the quality of the mic itself. AT on the other hand has a very nice quality microphone both sound and finish wise.

But, I have not used either the 3035 in the studio or live, so I cannot comment on their sound at all.

 FWIW, the fella went from the Oktavas to these.

I've been running the AT 3035 > UA-5 (p-mod) since August and have been thrilled with the results. 
I never cared for the MC-012>UA-5 (p-mod) combo.  I almost liked the Oktavas better when I ran them
with a PS-2 for power and transformers straight into my M1.  The 3035's are a much better fit.  Nice
warm bass and plenty of up-front, detailed sound in the mids and highs.  The biggest downside is their
weight.  They are heavy and take a decent stand to fly them. 

I think the guy at Bonnaroo might have been Scott Sterchelle.  He's the guy who got me interested in them
in the first place.   Scott pulled some of the best ABB tapes of 2002 at the Chicago Theatre with his 3035's
into an Deneke AD-20.

So FWIW, for my ear they were an order of magnitude improvement over the Oktavas.

I've heard these ABB sources, and honestly thought the source info might have been a misprint, as I'd never heard of 3035s until now. Anyway, they sound great. Definitely prefer them to the typical Oktava sound...

Hey you midn is I ask a couple of question about your setup ... Imma noob trying to get into all this. Question like the type of stand you have and what kinda clamp did you use for your stereo mics .. it looks sweet and when I saw the pics I was like whooaa this is kinda the idea I was getting in my head. Thanks for any help .. peace yo!

... on the subkect of AT mics has anyone heard of/used the "PRO 24 XY Stereo Condenser Microphone" ... I dig AT Mics I have a 4040 at home that I use for vox and guitar ... love the sound! Anyway, peace y'all!

I'm currently using a Bogen 3078 13' stand.  Nice strong stand for flying the AT-3035's. 
The AT's are mount on an AT t-bar.
