Mics Clips for DPA 4061's???
« on: March 17, 2009, 07:38:37 PM »
Anyone know of any mic clips (besides the ones offered by DPA) that work good?

Are there any advantages to using the one made by DPA oppsed to another manufacturer?

Thanks for any info!  :)

this is how I ran mine on a stand.
All parts were from Radio Shack.  worked like a charm, and provided a 6' spread at full extension.

Just a note I dont recommend any one use alligator clips on the wires or mic housing for the DPA 4061 I have just had a repair sent to me that someone was using a similar rig and ended up damaging the cable.

My 4060 mic clip of choice is variations configurations of this:

Photos below are links to the threads-

Other times I just interference fit them into balls or elastically attach to sun glasses with 'croakies'-

Or I use something similar to this to 'clip' to skin-

musical volition > vibrations > voltages > numeric values > voltages > vibrations> virtual teleportation time-machine experience

On his Jecklin disks, Moke was using red rubber slip-on pencil erasers with a notch in each to hold the thin cable.  I tried that but had a hard time keeping the mic in place and prefer gaff tape.  Just don't tape adhesive side to adhesive side or it will be very difficult to undo.

There was a little Gaffers "tab" sticking out that the clips held.  they were too rough on the cable, I learned that the first 10 seconds of observation.

Maybe I should clarify...DPA offers the DMM0008 lavaliere clips which are like $20 each.

I am curious if there is another lavaliere type clip that would work equally well for less $$$.  Running a little low on funds these days...

Thanks!

Darktrain sold me some DPA 4060's with much better clips-they rotated. Unfortunately I lost one and couldn't find anything similar on the net. Maybe he knows where they came from. I'd be interestd in knowing too.
AT853's (all caps)/CM-300 Franken Naks (CP-1,2,3)/JBMod Nak 700's (CP-701,702) > Tascam DR-680
Or Sonic Studios DSM-6 > M10

This is what I use.... the DMM0007

http://www.dv247.com/invt/45688/

it is a soft rubber version of the double clip which is on a tie clip and comes 5 for $20.

FWIW, the portion of both clips that holds the cable behind the capsule to secure the mic is REALLY like one of Mokes pencil eraser clips from the jecklin disc DIY mentioned earlier.  The real trick would be to find the right size hole to drill through the eraser to mimic the DPA product......

I sewed the rubber mount to my bag, hat etc.....
