Hello,
I've recently bought a pair of Sonic Studios DSM-6S/L microphones, without powering module.
I'm looking for an efficient way to correctly power these microphones.
I've been using Soundman OKM II/Rock Studio microphones for years, with an A3 powering module.
From the technical data that I have been able to find online, this powering module delivers 6V to the OKM microphones.
Although the Sonic Studios's website states that "DSM mics special powering requirement is NOT met using other mic manufacturer's powering solutions" and that " just applying typical (9 volt battery) power of 5-to-10 volts, LOW current common for electret powering WILL DO NO HARM to DSM mic sets; it just doesn't work so well", I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to use a Soundman A3 adapter to power SS DSM-6S microphones.
Does using "other mic manufacturer's powering solutions" really result in a significant sound difference than using the SS solutions ?
Also, are there any other alternative way to correctly power SS mics than to use their own battery boxes ?
Any feedback highly appreciated,
Thanks!
