Sorry if this is not the right place for this topic but ...

I started a big new project : transfering 1000+ DAT tapes ( a lot of them in LP 32KHz) to the harddisc before they start to disintegrate etc..

So cause my new computer runs under VISTA 64 bit I instantly run into problems. Bought a new soundcard (M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496)
but cant get the card recognize the LP 32 KHz signal from the DAT deck. Spent hours on this but couldnt get it working.
The card and recording software always interpret the 32 KHz signal as 44.1 and the recorded file then runs way too fast ..

Anyway ..
While still trying to get the soundcard working ( still cant get the 32 khz DATs transfered) I remembered an old toy from the
DAT days that I used a lot when stilll copying digital DAT<> DAT and from LP to SP etc.

Its a Sample Rate Converter made by SoundPool Germany ..model is SRCO214... a green box with optical and coaxial digital I/Os
and four dip switches to select the sample rate and switch the device on/off. Then there are 9 green and yellow small lamps
that show the selected and processed sample rate.

This one worked great back in the days , converted on the fly from one sample rate to the other etc and I always stayed digital
with this toy between the DAT decks.

Unfortunately I havent used it for a long time and cant remember how to switch the dip switches to convert from 32 kHZ in to 44.1 KHZ out . Also cant find the manual anymore which was basically a xeroxed pice of paper with the dip switch settings .

So if theres any old DAThead out there who can help me with a copy of the manual or the dip switch settings I really would appreciate that and be thankfull forever !!!

can't you just change the header on the transferred file?
Please contact me if you've ever taped the Smashing Pumpkins or a related group!

Can't help with the converter, sorry.  I had run into that same problem transfer a bunch of old dats recorded in LP on a D8.  the way i ended up handling it was to run the analog signal into a UA-5 and use the digi out on the UA-5.  As for the header change, I dunno about that.  The problem I encountered was that no deck would give me a lock on the digi signal @ 32Hz so I could not do a bit for bit transfer.  So I ended up with no way to pull the file off the dat unless I used the analog out.  The other issue I ran into was that a DAP1 would not even play the LP dats.  Ended up using a Sony PCM-R500
