lav mic for digital recorder?
« on: September 21, 2009, 01:42:11 PM »
What kind of wired lav mic would you suggest with a digital record (I have a Zoom and an R-09) or that would plug directly into a camera (using a beachtek)? Looking to spend up to maybe $200 or so. Probably want XLR output.

Some mics aren't loud enough without a better pre-amp, so that's my concern.

Thanks!

I'm using both contryman B6 xlr lavs and Tram Tr-50.  You can find excellent prices on the Tram on ebay, it is a very good mic, used for years in film and video production.

Good Luck,

John

I like the Sanken COS-11. I also use the Countryman B6. mainly because it is smaller and has better windscreen, but the cable is fragile. The Sanken also appears to pick up the low end a little better, IMO.
