« on: October 13, 2009, 12:56:10 AM »
this is kinda an extremely urgent question, i was very busy this days, so i didn't have time to read the documentation about the R-09HR, and tomorrow i have to go to the postal office to get my r-09hr, and the gig that i'm going to tape (depeche mode) it will be tomorrow too!!.. just a few hours later i get my new edirol!!.. and i don't have an idea which settings use with my mics!!: SP-CMC-8 and my battery box SP-SPSB-10 , i don't have a preamp right now, and i want to get a good first recording with this device.. so please! please! give me your recommendations about the configuration to use this time.

I'm not sure if those are the settings you are looking for, but...
Check the back of your unit (R-09-HR). LIM/AGC: OFF, PLUG-IN POWER: OFF, LOW CUT: OFF. MIC GAIN: OFF.
Using the menu, select  Recorder. Select 24 bits/44/1 ( that's what I do). With 24 bits you don't need to tape hot and risk overloading. Keep your levels around -12db and -6db and you are gold.
Your mics > bb> R-09-HR's Line input.
Ah, always use fresh batteries.
Take care

Well, since it was an emergency yesterday, I assume it still is ( almost 24 hours later). So I hope you don't mind my asking: how is it going? Did it work ( I mean the settings)? ;)

LIM/AGC: OFF, PLUG-IN POWER: OFF, LOW CUT: OFF. MIC GAIN: OFF.

Thanks for the update. It's good to know that everything went just fine.
I've never mentioned the input level ( 0 to 80) because what really matters in the SPL. Depending on the loudness of a given concert, you may have to set your levels at, say, 40, to achieve the same -12db that you'd achieve setting your levels at  30 in a louder show.
Take care ;)
