Hey Yall,
   When stealthing in a large venue, civic center, would you still run ortf or the like? Or do you have both mics pointing straight out at the nearest stack? (Both under hat)

Depends on where your seat is. If you're pretty far to one side, I'd point and roll. If you're up front in the middle, go for the image. (This assumes stereo mix or close enough to pick up onstage or monitors.)

even without a stereo mix in the stacks id still run ortf if i was up front enough to run it.  getting a stereo recording isn't entirely about what is coming out of the stacks, but also getting a feel for what it is like to be there.

ortf only if your close? If I got crappy nose bleed seats fire straight at the closest stack?

Yes, ORTF is generally only used when you are close to the sound source.

so always try to use these, just reduce the angles a little to make up for the distance?
