Topic: my bt client (azureus) keeps freezing

so i'm trying to download some stuff and it is all from the same tracker, but i will click on one and open it and it will start and then click on something else and when i click "ok" for it to start it just locks and i have to shut down the program.  i've tried to open them with nothing running and it still locks up.  any insight?

have you tried utorrent as a client?  best out there.

just downloaded and ran it and all the files that were freezing seemed to be working.  my thing is that i'm not computer savy so my little brother hooks me up and i use a program FOREVER.  i'm just not big on new stuff once i know a program, but i think this new client is gonna be better (i hope).  thanks a ton...

Azureus can be a major resource hog.  So if you're running with a lower amount of memory (say, 256 like me ) it can be a chore to use.  utorrent is great though.

It's java so yeah it's a resource hog. I recommend Transmission if you're on mac. And I've heard great things about utorrent but never tried it myself.

just as a note, you can customize how much memory you allow azureus(java technically) to use, the default is 128megs, all you have to do is edit the "azureus" executable itself on linux...

[root@darkstar ~]# grep -i xmx /opt/azureus/azureus
JAVA_ARGS="-Xmx128m"

if you only wanted azureus to use 64 megs, change to 64, etc.

This should be the same or darn close on mac and wins.

wish uTorrent made a native linux version
