FOUND!: automated FLAC tagger for mac?
« on: March 28, 2010, 11:35:49 AM »
I found the FLAC Multi tagger, but it didn't want to run on my iMac 10.4.1.  Any advice for an automated flac tagger for mac?  Manually entering song names is killing me..  :-\

Thanks
Jesse

??? I didn't realize xACT was automated -- so you can just paste in the setlist from the text file and xACT will create the tags?

I use FLAC multi tagger and it works great.  You need to add artist, album, etc yourself (for all songs at once), then just cut and paste the portion of the text file with the song list and it will auto-populate the song title tags for you, it can even be set to ignore leading track numbers from your setlist.

Here's the original thread on it:

In xAct how do you automate the tagging of the individual track names?  I don't want to cut and paste each track name from the text file individually.

Thanks-never knew xAct had that capability!

Choose the "FLAT Tags" tab and then click the "Auto-name" checkbox. A new window opens where you can paste the setlist.

what version are you on?  I don't see that checkbox in version 1.62. Anyone have a current location to download the most recent version?

Thanks

Wow, good to know about xACT.  I don't know what version I have, I'll have to check when I get home but I didn't know it had this capability.

Wow.  I'm so glad I asked.  The updated xACT works perfectly for automated FLAC tagging.  Couldn't be easier.  I have a huge amount of transfers to do, and this will make it so much easier!

I heart scb! Thanks for the heads-up and the link!

Killer!!.... I am glad I kept up with this thread. I have been using xACT to tag the "hard" way for a while. I am glad to see this update.

Thanks!

xACT rocks. Pretty much anytime I have a question, xACT has the answer. It's like a magic 8-ball and a Swiss Army knife rolled into one nice little package.

So my issue with xACT is that the track names don't always get put in.  Sometimes track one will get done and all the rest get left out.  Scott says it is something to do with how the text is formatted.  Anyone else run into this and is there a way to scrub the text like via BBEdit or something.  Even just switching Text Edit to RTF and back to plain?  I dunno...would love help on this.  This feature of xACT rocks, except when it doesn't work.

I cut and paste into a new document every time and I have not had this problem since. It's an extra step but seems to solve the problem. (I use Text Wrangler.)
