Hello i was wondering how to clean mic cables from tape residue? some say to use olive oil? what about goo be gone?

I would say that any non-petroleum based solvent would work. Best bet: write or call DPA in Colorado. The manufacturer is always a good place to start.

Watch out with Goop Off and similar solvents, they dissolve some plastics. If you don't get good information from the manufacturer WD40 is a pretty safe bet, maybe even denatured alcohol.

Olive oil works just fine in most cases. Gaffers tape, duct tape and even cheap masking tape residue come of with some olive oil.

try Ammonia. Ammonia breaks down adhesives. shouldn't do anything to the wire... I use Ammonia/hot water to breakdown the adhesives on labels of wine wine bottles. it works great.....
