ok, so who has a pair of 930s, and the means to do a fair comp?
I'll send you my Pulsars to play with.  I've been dying to put these two mics up against each other to ferret out their strengths/weaknesses.

I do believe the M-Audio Pulsar to contend.  (1/2 of me expects it to be preferred in a blind test over the beyers)

so the only question that remains is....  how rigorous of a comp do you want this to be?

I've lost track of what gear you have, so I don't even know what you've got for pre-amp, A/D, and deck options.  All I've got right now is my oade concert mod PMD-661.

On the other hand, it doesn't necessarily have to be the exact same gear downstream.  then it would fall into a more "just for fun" comparison.  It'll still be interesting to see the results and fun to do, but we'll get the nay-sayers that it's not a perfect comp.

In any case, it'll be my first d'Elf show since November, so it'll be a lot of fun regardless

this will be my first d'elf show since the dreaded birthday experience at the Stone Church in Feb. 2008 when Mike wanted to rip my head off because my Hammond wasn't loud enough for Medeski .....

Did you get your PS2/AD20 back together?  If you set aside the 24 bit hype I think that makes a good sounding pre.

If Todd goes down, he has a Mod'ed PMD660.  If you can talk him into running your mics... that versus Jason's mod 661 ought to be a fair approximation.

Portland Asylum tonight ( I think),  Friday at the Stone Church.
Also Percolator at Inn on the Blues on Thursday.
I'm desperate for a good night's sleep plus I haven't done my taxes.  I think I'm out for tonight and Thursday, but Ted and I are hitting the Church on Friday.

Nick, unfortunately, bailed and didn't come out to the show.  so no Pulsars tape.  Unfortunately, I won't be at Harper's on Tuesday for another opportunity for a comp.  It's tough to get out of the house with a 3 month old baby.  but at least I have a good excuse, where-as Nick is just lazy
