Marantz Pmd 670/671 v.s. R-09HR Help/advice needed
« on: April 08, 2010, 09:47:40 PM »
I have just purchased a new Nbox and some MK41 caps.

I need to decide on my deck. As I am doing some reading it seems as if there are some problems around the R-09 and brickwalling.

I really dont see myself stealthing (and if I do it will be so rare that I would just borrow an r-09HR from some friends)

so.. my question is for those that have used the Marantz pmd670/671 are there any issues with using the line-in to record?

Also, with the line in, can you use the mic volume controls to set the levels that you desire?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

When I ran the 671, I ran line-in using a PSP-2 as the preamp and didn't have a problem using the controls on the 671 to adjust the levels.  Great, great unit, btw.  The A/D in it is stellar if you have a preamp in front.

Comparing the 670/671 and R-09HR is like apples and oranges. If you are not worried about size, the Marantz models are clearly superior and 3-4X the cost.

thanks for the info all. It looks like im going to do a Marantz recorder.

They are actually not "that" much more expensive (exsp the 670) I can get one of those for around 700 new.
