recording guide info?
« on: May 29, 2010, 11:33:24 AM »
does anyone have a good link to or any info they would care to share on the best solutions for different taping environments?info I am looking for is like when it would be better to run omni vs cards and in what configuration for acoustic vs loud amplified.....small room vs outdoor festy etc..

I will most likely be recording a lot in a small local room and some outdoor bluegrass stuff

I am fairly new to obtaining the best recordings possible and have always just run cheap gear by the seat of my pants.I want to learn the best way to do it right at this point since I have improved my gear somewhat.

CA-11 (omni/cards) > CA 9000 (or UA-5) > MR-1

any suggestions welcome

peace,
indy

maybe you have to start with http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=119057.0",  a lot of info about microphone configuration and stereophonic zoom (the best way to understand when to use omnis or other polar patterns and more,).
